Activities to enjoy in Rio Puelo

“You will never get tired of this unique place and you will want each day to extend a few hours more.”

Fishing in the Puelo River

“Let the turquoise waters of our beloved river embrace you.” This river is well-known amongst anglers worldwide. In spite of its reputation as one of the best fishing spots in southern Chile, anglers enjoy open spaces and privacy when fishing. Fishing trips here are usually conducted very early in the morning, until about 10 am, and late in the afternoon. These are the best times to catch salmon and chinook in the river.

Trekking

“Each track has a story – we respect them, as they are testimony of our culture, as passed down to us by our ancestors.” Trekking in Puelo is an activity that you cannot miss! The whole area is surrounded by beautiful mountains and tracks still unexplored. Immerse yourself into the deep silence of ancient temperate rainforests. Pass waterfalls and giant Alerce trees as your senses take in the velvet green landscape of the surrounding national parks.

Trail riding on horseback

“Even the horses seem happy to go for a ride around the stunning mountains that surround us.” The traditional way of experiencing Rio Puelo is on horseback. Nothing beats a lazy afternoon trail ride along the river with the mountains towering up around you, the sweet grassy smell of horses and that feeling of being deeply connected to nature. If you want to stop for a picnic we would be delighted to organise it for you.

Kayaking the Puelo River and the Reloncavi Estuary

“The kayak will take you to the source of the pure waters that descend fresh from the mountains.” Why not challenge yourself by going on one of our kayak tours? Meander through the winding rivers or break out into the Reloncavi Estuary with its glorious backdrop of the snow capped Yates Volcano in stark contrast to the vibrant blue water. Be closer to nature than ever and enjoy stunning sunsets from our kayaks.
